News updates & new family photos Retirement continues to keep us extremely busy! Updates as of April 2007:
Miss Rachael Button, the tiny tortoiseshell kitten that literally dropped out of a tree to us back in 2005 has grown into quite the little cat! She is probably the busiest kitten we've ever had, particularly around 4:00 in the morning. She follows us around the yard and is a wonderful helper in the garden.
We're very, very busy with the Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven. Ethan has taken over duties as Treasurer and Alice is in charge of membership (we now have 275 members!) and publicity. The farm is growing and somehow funding keeps coming in; 2007's projected budget is $50,000. We just received a $1500 grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation to purchase a large animal lift. Several of the "core members" of the farm are becoming FEMA certified in large animal rescue, and our farm has been designated at Wayne County's official large animal rescue shelter. We have over 150 animals currently being cared for. Friend of the Farm and professional web developer Marlene Ferguson has offered to completely redesign the farm's web site and enable us to take on-line donations. We can't wait! Until that's done, though, here's the original web site. It's a little out of date but the basic info about the farm is there:
Our sheep Ernie and Sophie are fully grown and are lovin' life over at the farm. We also now have 2 bunnies here at home...Miracle and Paula. They're currently in the Winter quarters in a lovely 2-level hutch that's in our shed...complete with two heat lamps! They're eagerly anticipating moving back out into their summer outdoor run.
Here's the rest of the family:
Sisters Sarah Me-Jowiee (left) and Sweet Babboo (right)
Sisters Calla (left) and Cuddles (right)
Sisters Bernice (left) and Kate (right)...Kate likes to "hang" over things...
and remembering our dear friend Erica, who we miss dearly...
And our wonderful farm animals...
